Laundry Luxury

I'm on cloud nine! Brian and Jonathan installed our new washing machine yesterday! What a huge blessing! You just can't appreciate what a big deal this is until you have lived nine months washing clothes for a family of six by hand at a cement box with a metal washboard embedded in it. Last night I did a small bleach load to test it out. It was so amazing! I put dirty clothes in and a very short time, not after an hour of back breaking scrubbing, they were finished, clean, clean, CLEAN! And this machine spins the water out so effectively that things are practically dry when I take them out. Washing by hand ensured that many times the clothes would have begun to mildew by the time they dried because we just couldn't squeeze all the excess water out. The things I hung up last night were perfectly dry this morning. It's dumb to go on and on about a washer, but I just want you to know how very THANKFUL I am to our sending church's elders for insisting that Brian spoil me with this "luxury" item! :) Did I mention that I'm ecstatic!

(Post script...as an added bonus, Jonathan worked side by side with his dad learning how to do plumbing and electrical for the installation. This definitely counts for school as I haven't even unpacked our tote of school books yet.)

Yay!!! Sara, that's not a "dumb" thing to go on and on about at all! That's totally awesome!! I remember when we moved into our house from the apartment, I was SO excited to have a washer and dryer I actually NAMED them (Simon & Garfunkle)...and that was just because I didn't have to go down 3 flights of stairs into a yucky basement to do laundry anymore! Even THAT was a luxury compared to what you've had to do! I'm happy for you :) And I'm glad that you're posting again!
God bless,
jayna

Hi Sara, We are the Winslow's. We are friends with Tracy and the Menard family. We've been worshipping at your folks' house for the last two weeks! You Mom gave me your blog address! What a wonderful blog. What a beautiful family you have! We, too, have a blog: www.winslowsix.blogspot.com .
We are celebrating your washing machine with you! Isn't it wonderful that we serve a God who cares about such BIG little details?? We did a one month term in PNG helping our dear friends build their home on a remote island there, and know full well the washing machine blues...we and the tribal ladies did it all by hand...and then the rains would come...and there would be NO dry clothes! So...we know what it means to celebrate a washing machine, and dry clothes! Yeah! Thank you for allowing us to pray for you as you serve the Lord!
